Jim Skewes

Jim Skewes grew up in Seattle and Whidbey Island and received his Bachelor of Music Degree in 1979 at Cornish College of the Arts. He began teaching, both privately and in classes at community centers and the University of Washington while continuing his own studies with George Sakellariou, Jose Tomas, and Pepe Romero.

He has entertained diners and lounge patrons at various Seattle venues which led to a steady engagement at the Seattle Alexis Hotel. He still kept busy teaching and playing for weddings, fashion shows, dinners, receptions, and parties. He also played and sang locally in a lounge combo.

In 1985, Jim and his family moved to Portland to play for diners at the Alexis Hotel there, now the RiverPlace Hotel. Since then, Jim has played throughout the Northwest, including studio and session work, local cruises, winemaker's dinners, and many more weddings and receptions.

Jim has two CDs, "Will Play For Food" and "Soft Guitar," and is working on a publishing his arrangements for solo guitar from those CDs. His next CD, "The Moon and the Stars" will come out in Spring of 2007.
